Shnat Sherut volunteer Dganit Lux brought more than her time and goodwill to the Merhavim Regional Council – she brought a professional skillset in visual design that has left a lasting impact. Her year of service as a graphic designer with the council’s community center (Matnas Merhavim) has helped reshape the way the institution presents itself to the public, both visually and emotionally.
A New Look for a Vibrant Community Hub
Working in close collaboration with Matnas Director Naama Elankari, Dganit began by refreshing the main logo and overall branding of the center. This project quickly evolved into a full-scale rebranding of all nine departments within the Matnas. Through a creative, iterative process with each department head, Dganit helped shape their visual identity – from logos and letterhead to promotional templates and presentation designs. Each new graphic element was crafted to reflect the core mission and audience of the department it represents.

Bringing the Space to Life with Signage and Photography
The branding extended beyond paper and screens. Dganit led a signage project that included indoor nameplates for every team member and exterior signage for both the Matnas building and the Conservatory in Merhavim and Mabu’im. These changes not only improved navigation and professionalism, but also reinforced the center’s identity as a welcoming, organized space for the whole community.

In an especially inspiring initiative, Dganit expanded the idea of “Merhavim” (spaces) by putting out a call to photographers from across the region. Their donated images were transformed into large posters installed on the Matnas walls, adding local character and color to the interior. Each wall tells a story of the region, of the people, of the community spirit.

Website Upgrade in Progress
Dganit’s work also supported the ongoing overhaul of the Matnas website, in collaboration with the Atarix team. As part of the rebranding process, all department pages are being updated to reflect the new design language she developed. This ensures a coherent and modern online presence that matches the dynamic work happening on the ground.
Creative Compassion: A Volunteer-Led Home Makeover

But Dganit’s impact wasn’t limited to the professional sphere. In a personal initiative, she took part in the “Grandma on Loan” afternoon program, spending time weekly with a single mother and her three young children. The simple act of sharing time together created a strong bond and gave the mother valuable hours to focus on her work.
Recognizing another way she could help, Dganit also envisioned a home interior makeover for the family. Teaming up with fellow volunteer and interior designer Maya Lidoror, the two crafted a renovation plan to bring new life to the family’s small home. Thanks to their dedication and the landlord’s support, a full transformation began – kitchen upgrades, new furnishings, and a custom-built bed for the children. The emotional and practical value of this project can’t be overstated. The children are proud of their new space, and the mother – who took part in building the bed herself – feels empowered and supported.

A Year of Meaningful Change
Dganit Lux exemplifies the Shnat Sherut 50 Plus vision: skilled professionals offering their talents, experience, and heart to strengthen communities. Her work in Merhavim leaves behind more than logos and posters – it leaves a legacy of beauty, dignity, and human connection.
